Las Vegas-based Fans of Jimmy Century is an original band performing originals and cover music they describe as modern noir, cocktail cool, modern trip hop grooves & modern torch. Signed to a 2-single deal with Universal Music Group in 2013-2014 their debut song for the label “Va Va Voom to the Moon,” received consistent airplay on Vegas’ commercial pop station Mix 94.1. FOJC eventually chose to start self-releasing in 2015 on their own Ann-Margrock Music. Their original song, the James Bond-esque “Delicate Fever,” was most recently heard in the Warner Bros. film “Get Hard,” starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Their newest singles “Lips On Mine,” and “Blackout,” (produced by FOJC and Eurotrash Collective,) were featured on the Grammy ballot in the Electronic Dance & Pop Music categories in 2015.
Past TV, Film, and Advertising placements for the band include “Bad Teacher (Columbia),” “Hall Pass (Warner Bros),” “Finding Nemo 3D (Disney/Pixar),” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Gossip Girl,” “Ray Donovan,” “Melrose Place,” “Ugly Betty,” “XO Betsey Johnson,” “The L Word” (in a scene so steam it’s referred to as the “Hot Sahara” scene,) E News Live, Forever 21, Roxy, and Google.
Originally from San Francisco, FOJC got off to a fast start with their very first 2008 single, “Hot Sahara.” Both “Hot Sahara” and its accompanying album, “Twist of the Banshees,” (produced by the band,) made it onto the nominations ballot in the Electronic Dance category for the Grammy Awards in the same year. Four years later, after writing the song “Mr. Las Vegas,” they were tempted to move to Vegas. The Bond-esque song has inspired a full-length feature film (in a mockumentary style) starring Fans of Jimmy Century to start filming in 2016.
The band (Alicia Perrone on vocals, Victor James on bass, and Steve Walker on drums/DJ,) has been a featured performer for Gulfstream Aerospace, Cirque du Soleil, Mondays Dark at Vinyl/Hard Rock Hotel, Foundation Room/House of Blues, Life is Beautiful Local Band Showcase, a residency at the Palms Resort and Casino, Red Rock Resort & many others. FOJC’s live performances have made them an audience favorite, sharing the stage with Lady Gaga, Robyn, Shiny Toy Guns, & No Doubt amongst others & booking their own tours up and down the west coast.
Their sound is a cool mix of Bitter:Sweet, Portishead, Lana del Rey, Deee-Lite and Sade and their basic trio performs in various formations as a duo, trio, foursome with keyboardist Jimarillo Miller, and with dancers or without. They have a loyal, existing fanbase and can draw 300+ in Vegas and the SF Bay Area.
